In a nutshell
These qualifications are for people working in or looking to work in assessment and internal quality assurance. These qualifications are open to people carrying out assessments and quality assurance in most learning environments including FE, Adult Continuing Learning, Employers and Third Sector. They are designed for anyone assessing and carrying out quality assurance in all occupational sectors, accredited learning, non-accredited learning (e.g. where performance is being assessed but the learner is not undertaking a qualification). This qualification is intended for Assessors who assess occupational competence in an individual's work environment.
This course is for...
For practitioners who assess the demonstration of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (eg. witnesses), learner statements and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). For anyone who assesses candidates undertaking NVQs.
Course content
Learners can expect to cover a range of theories, policies and procedures designed to ensure sound assessment principles. Units include:
• Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
• Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, the qualification will be partly judged on observed assessments for two real learners on two occasions in a real work environment against approved standards/criteria so learners must work in an environment/setting where that is possible.
Additional information
This qualification is delivered in the workplace, not on campus for individuals to attend. Delivery dates are agreed in advance with you and your employer.
Learners will undertake one theory unit which looks at their knowledge of the principles and practices of assessment and one practical unit which covers how well they assess the competence of others. This usually requires four meetings with your assessor and may take 3 to 6 months to complete (it is self-paced). A formal quote can be issued once we understand your training need but as a guide, we charge £815 per person.
