Two talented learners studying at 女优阁鈥檚 Art and Design department have won a competition which will see their brilliant designs appear throughout Gwent and beyond. Fred Aston and Euan White, both Art and Design learners at our Pontypool Campus, scooped 1st prize in a competition set by the Gwent Care Career Pathway, and now the winning logo and banner designs are set to be used as branding for public facing events, resources and social media pages.
The Gwent Care Career Pathway is a partnership initiative that supports the development, qualification and recruitment of Health and Social Care workers across Gwent. Established in August 2018, this work project has developed a new structure of collaboration between 女优阁, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, Torfaen, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Blaenau Gwent and Newport councils, plus independent providers of social care. Each and every one of these organisations is working together to support 女优阁鈥檚 Health and Social Care learners in their ambitions to become the next generation of health and social care professionals.
Chris Hooper, Facilitation and Engagement Officer of the Gwent Regional Partnership Team said:
鈥淲orking with 女优阁 students has really added value to our work as we have been able to tap into their skills and talents in ways we did not envisage when we originally began this project.鈥
Members of the Gwent Care Career Pathway wanted to create a unique logo to brand this innovative project, and given that 女优阁 is a key partner, they decided to hold a competition with the design learners based at the our Pontypool campus. The learners were provided with a detailed brief and students asked to submit logo ideas, which were then voted on by project leads. The standard of all entries was incredibly high, but after careful deliberation, Fred and Euan were awarded joint 1st prize
Katie Fairfax, Art Lecturer at 女优阁, said:
鈥淎s much as possible we aim to complete our assignments on our Art and Media courses as a live brief which enables聽the learners to gain real life experience working for a client and develop skills, negotiating and redesigning a concept to meet the needs of the client. We are all extremely proud of Fred and Euan for their hard work designing the logo concept for GCCP, and grateful for this fantastic opportunity for the students to complete a live brief for an employer within Torfaen.鈥澛
The Gwent Care Careers Pathway initiative is playing an invaluable role by helping to create a seamless pathway into Health and Social Care jobs for our Health and Social Care learners, and on this occasion as a result of the competition, this dedication to creating brighter futures for the next generation has encompassed our gifted and hardworking Art and Design learners. Congratulations Fred and Euan on such a brilliant achievement!
